First month finished!

Life in the web department is a little more interesting than sales!!
Today the placement student who has been there for the last year left, so on Monday I will be doing everything. After two weeks of shadowing him I feel ready! It has been quite boring at times when he wanted to do the work, just sitting there watching him do it. Should be better from now on.
The new website has also just gone live today for customer testing which will bring some big changes with it over the next few months. It can be found at www.cclcomputers.com .

Moved into the web department

Posted by on July 14th, 2004

At last, today I moved into the department I will be working in for the rest of this year - the website/marketing/purchasing department!
I can say that I am thouroughly acquainted with the sales side of the system now!It was a more relaxed day adding some products to the system, intranetand online store and updating the 12MB Excel spreadsheet containing allof the prices.

I had a more in-depth look at the new website which is underdevelopment. The site looks very well put together and I should beworking closely with it over the next year.

I am currently working with the current placement student and one froma previous year who has stated full time after finishing his degree, they are both students of Univeristy of Huddersfield.

Mid-week

Posted by on July 7th, 2004

Well I’m over half way through my first week at CCL Computers. Currently I’m still on sales, however I am now processing web orders onto the internal system. I thought that today would be my last day of doing this, however my supervisor is away for the rest of the week so I will remain on sales.
I have been talking to the person who I will be replacing and he’sprovided some more information as to the side of the system that I willeventually be working on. It seems as though what I’ll be working onwill be more interesting than being on sales. When I’m not doing weborders I listen in on sales calls, one of the best so far was:

Sales: CCL Computers sales department, how can I help?
Customer: Hi, do you sell computers?
Sales: Yes, we do sir.
Customer: Okay then thanks, bye.

Everyone is really busy and they are very short of staff, I’ll just have to be patient.
